July Recap: Wild Figs, Wind-Blown Hair, and One Very Snazzy Trailer

If June was about settling into winter, July was the month that tested our grit. Cold fronts rolled in, the wind got feisty, and the jobs got big. But we stayed muddy, motivated, and just a little smug about our new trailer (can you blame us?).
Let’s get into it.

⛪ Moederkerk Magic
We were back at the iconic Stellenbosch Moederkerk this month, and if there’s a dream setting for tree work, this might be it.
Big trees. Historic architecture. And just enough curious onlookers to make us feel famous for a minute.
Safe to say, we’ll never get tired of that backdrop.

🌬️ Greyton Wind = 1,
Arbs = Also 1
Early July, Greyton threw its worst at us: gusts, rain, and that clingy kind of cold that finds your spine. André said that the wind literally blew the breath out of his mouth. But the job didn’t care, and neither did we.
Three large-frame Cluster Pines (Pinus pinaster) needed to come down. And with chainsaws humming and jackets zipped to the chin, we got it done.
Big trees, big effort.
🌿 Two Wild Bananas Walk Into a Farm...
Somewhere outside Greyton, we tackled the removal of two massive Strelitzia nicolai clusters.
This was one of those tight-corner, root-dense, “where-is-the-stump-grinder” kind of jobs.
But with good planning, we wrapped it in about three hours flat. Clean, tidy, done.

You’ve heard of the Map of Africa…
But have you seen the “Map of the Fig” in Kleinmond? 👀😂
This wasn’t just cutting down a stump, it turned into a full-on sculpture session.
Some might say tree work… we say accidental artistry. 😉
🚛 Big News: Fleet Upgrade Incoming
We finally bought our first trailer, and it’s already making us wonder how we survived without it.
Keep your eyes on our feed, more fleet upgrades are coming. And yes, we’re going to brag a little.

What Clients Said That Made Us Smile 🫶🏻

-Mark Partington
"Great service by Andre, Barry and team, pruning our olive tree here in Stanford.
Quick and efficient. Thanks guys"
-Freddie Nuttall
"We highly recommend Overberg Arborists! They made careful off-sight assessments via video calls and photos and kept us fully informed as to the process, dealing with possible branches in neighbours' gardens and time plans. The job they did was anything but simple, and they handled difficult areas and challenging overgrown areas to our satisfaction. Clearing up, removing huge loads of cuttings and leaving our property in good order after a major job was really great after a long, messy job.
Andre’s team was polite, obliging and careful with all areas they worked in or around.
The follow-up from the office the next day and graphs of what to expect from your trees as they grow or recover were also very informative.
All round, a very good experience dealing with very ragged trees in an old and overgrown garden!"
-Eleanor Nield
💨 PSA: The Wind Won’t Wait
Winter isn’t just cold, it’s the season that exposes weak growth, unstable trees, and dodgy branch unions.
If your tree’s looking tired or leaning a little too hard toward your roof, this is the time to get it checked.

That’s July.
Windy. Wild. Worth it.
We braced trees, mapped figs, trimmed oaks, and took one very photogenic trailer home.
August, we’re ready for you.
