February Recap: Full Calendar. Full Hearts. Proper Work.

The year didn’t gently “start”. It launched.

And February kept that same pace.

We’ve been on the road, in harnesses, behind machines, in gardens, on estates, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

We’re busy. We’re building. We’re earning trust.

And that doesn’t happen by accident.

Pringle Bay = Wind, Salt & Structure

We spent time in Pringle Bay this month doing general trimming, pruning and deadwood removal on a property overlooking the ocean.

Coastal trees work harder than most. Wind exposure, salt in the air, uneven growth patterns, by late summer, you can see where the strain has been sitting quietly for months.

So we refined structure. We removed deadwood.

We reduced weight where it mattered.

Not hacking. Not over-thinning. Just thoughtful, balanced work that prepares the tree for the next season before autumn winds arrive.

That’s the kind of work that prevents phone calls later.

Six Coastal Oaks in the Ground

We planted six Coastal Oaks in Camps Bay this month.

Correct planting depth. Root preparation. Soil conditioning. Staking where required. Future canopy space considered.

Planting is long-term work. If it's done incorrectly, problems show up years later. If it's done right, it builds structure, shade and value into the property.

We enjoy removals. But we take just as much pride in putting new trees in the ground.

Hemel-en-Aarde Valley

We worked at the beautiful Nidderdale in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley this month.

Clean cuts, uniform canopy management, careful debris control and zero shortcuts.

The standard has to stay consistent across multiple trees and spaces.

It’s detailed work. And it matters.

Behind the Scenes

What people don’t see in a month like February is how much goes into keeping it steady.

When the calendar fills up quickly, it’s not just about showing up and cutting trees. It’s planning who goes where. It’s reshuffling when something overruns. It’s answering messages while standing on a site. It’s quoting at night. It’s making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

A smooth month takes work behind the scenes. And we’re refining as we go.

A Special Moment

Frans and Andrea welcomed their baby this month.

Between job cards, ropes, machines and site visits, life carried on in the best way possible.

We’re not just building a company. We’re building lives around it.

Seasonal Shift: What We’re Seeing Right Now

Late February into March is a subtle turning point in the Western Cape.

The intense heat starts softening. Growth slows slightly. Trees begin preparing, even if we don’t see it immediately.

This is the time to:

  • Ease back on aggressive watering rather than stopping suddenly.

  • Remove visible deadwood before winter wind systems arrive.

  • Top up mulch to regulate soil temperature and retain moisture.

  • Avoid heavy structural pruning as trees prepare for dormancy.

Small, steady maintenance now sets trees up for winter stability.

We’d rather guide clients early than respond to preventable failures later.

Tall trees and a white truck in a vineyard under a clear blue sky. Sunlit landscape with green vines and a rustic fence.

When we look back at this month, it doesn’t feel rushed. It feels earned.

We worked hard. We planted well. We cleaned up properly. We handled what came our way.

And somewhere between all of it, we were reminded why we do this.

So here’s to a strong February.

March, we’re ready for you. 🌿
