April in a Nutshell: New Wheels, Big Work, and a Proper Autumn Shift

April had energy. The good kind, where things are moving, jobs are lining up properly, and you can feel that shift from “busy” to building something.
We rolled into the month with a new bakkie on the road (YAY 😄) and started branding the fleet, which just hits differently. There’s something about pulling up on site, fully marked, clean, and recognisable. It’s a small thing, but it feels like a proper step into the next phase.
Autumn’s properly here now, cooler starts, softer light, trees easing off after summer, but on our side, things definitely picked up.
A proper milestone month
We spent a solid stretch at Hermanus Golf Club working through the dismantling and felling of 98 gum trees.
Let that sink in for a second.
And this is where the collab with Overberg Biomass, our sister company, really came into its own.
They handled all the clean-up, chipping, and bucking, and it made a massive difference. Everything kept moving.
There’s something seriously satisfying about watching that kind of operation run properly. Trees coming down, material getting processed immediately, and the site staying tidy the whole way through.
Also, the content made? Unreal. We’ve got some good footage from this one 😄
This job was a big moment for us. Not just because of the scale, but because of how it came together.

The rest of the month didn’t exactly chill
In between all of that, we were still moving.
Down in Cape Town, we worked through a row of Leyland Cypress that needed pollarding. Franschhoek had us taking down two Monterey Pines, controlled dismantles, nothing rushed, just steady work in a beautiful setting.
We also handled a really special Brazilian Pepper that needed pollarding, one of those species that can get out of hand quickly if you leave it too long. Brought it back into shape without overdoing it, while also working on the root zone to give the tree a proper reset below ground.
What we’re seeing out there right now
A lot of trees are coming out of summer a bit… tired.
Nothing dramatic, just:
Canopies that have thickened up more than they should
Soil that’s taken a knock from the heat
Growth that hasn’t been managed in a while
It’s that stage where things don’t look bad yet, but you can tell they’re heading there.
And if you leave it too long, winter usually exposes it.

Autumn is doing its thing 🍂
This is honestly one of the best times to step in.
We’re focusing on:
Cleaning out what’s already weak
Opening things up slightly, where they’ve become too dense
Keeping structure balanced without forcing new growth
And this is your heads up, winter pruning bookings are already starting to fill.
If you’ve been thinking about it, don’t leave it until everything’s booked out and you’re stuck waiting.
From us
April felt good.
Big work, good people, proper momentum, and a few moments where you step back and go, okay, this is working.
We’re proud of the direction things are heading, and grateful for everyone who’s part of it, whether you’ve booked with us, referred us, or just been following along.
May’s around the corner, winter’s creeping in, and things aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
If your trees are sitting a bit heavy, blocking light, or just not feeling right, now’s the time to sort it.
